Molecular Tumor Boards (MTB) and Precision Oncology Programs

October 16, 2026 – October 16, 2027

This activity is jointly provided by Global Education Group (Global) and GO2 for Lung Cancer.

This activity is supported by an independent medical educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Target Audience

The primary audience for this project is multidisciplinary healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and longitudinal care of patients with advanced mNSCLC, including those with HER2 (ERBB2)-mutations. This includes medical oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, oncology pharmacists, molecular pathologists, oncology nurses and navigators, and other team members integral to diagnosis, biomarker testing, treatment selection, and toxicity management, especially those practicing in community, under-resourced, and rural settings, where disparities in access to biomarker testing and targeted therapies remain most pronounced.

Statement of Need/Program Overview

This educational activity will explore the structure and function of MTBs in NSCLC care, including their role in facilitating timely biomarker testing and treatment initiation for patients with targetable alterations such as HER2 (ERBB2) mutations. Participants will also examine practical strategies for integrating MTB recommendations into clinical workflows to enhance collaboration, streamline care delivery, and support personalized treatment decisions.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Describe a molecular tumor board's function and multidisciplinary composition in NSCLC care
  • Explain how MTBs influence time to biomarker testing and treatment initiation for targetable mutations, including HER2 (ERBB2)-mutant NSCLC
  • Evaluate best practices for integrating MTB recommendations into clinical workflows to optimize personalized treatment decisions
  • Discuss how professional collaboration, project echo, synchronous and asynchronous telehealth, and remote reporting and monitoring technology can maximize management of patients on first- and second-line nontargeted and targeted therapies for HER2 (ERBB2)- mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
  • List methods for collecting, validating, and analyzing data on biomarker testing performance
  • Summarize the importance of developing and implementing quality dashboards to monitor key metrics, including time to biopsy, time to NGS result, and time to treatment
